Portainer Agent Install Synology (SSH Method)

Have a Portainer Instance set up on another machine and want to add your Synology in as an Agent for Remote Control without needing to SSH in?
Make sure that Docker is installed on your Synology already - if you're unsure where to find that, go to Package Center > Docker
SSH into your Portainer instance with the following command: ssh <user>@<synology IP>:<specified port>
Check if you have Root Permissions: sudo su
When it comes to Docker, there are 2 ways of setting up a container through the CLI: Docker Run vs Docker Compose, they both do the same job, just through different means:
Docker Run: run this command once, container either gets set up, or errors out
Docker Compose: configure settings in docker-compose.yml file, bring up with docker compose up -d, tweak the file and run again if anything went wrong
Whatever your preference, here's a starter Portainer Agent Docker Compose file:

-p 9001:9001 \
--name portainer_agent \
--restart=always \
-v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock \
-v /:/host \
portainer/agent:2.21.5
Docker Compose Version:
services:
portainer_agent:
image: portainer/agent:2.21.5
container_name: portainer_agent
restart: always
ports:
- "9001:9001"
volumes:
- /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock
- /:/host
In Synology's Built in Container Manager, check to see if your container is healthy
head back to your Portainer Instance > Environment-Related > Enviroments > Add Enviroment
Assuming everything went correctly, you should see this in your Portainer instance!
