Adding a Volume Pool
#===================================================================================================================================#
After Setting up your Diskstation for the first time, you will be asked to set up a Volume Pool for both of your Installed Hard Drives. Click on Create Now + Start
You will be asked what sort of Drive RAID Configuration you would like to use, since we have 2 8 TB Hard Drives, we will be choosing Raid 1 as we want the Redundancy more than anything right now
Select both Hard Drives (or however many you have installed)
We would recommend performing a Drive Check, this might take some time to complete, but it’s worth knowing if your Drives are Healthy or Not
Enter the Size you would like this Volume Pool to be (just enter the Max Value Available if unsure)
Select a File System. In our case we’re going with what Synology Recommends, Linux Filesystems aren’t really relevant to this type of Build (BTRFS)
Confirm your Settings and go back if you feel like you need to. Click Confirm and the System will begin the Drive Check mentioned earlier along with Formatting the Disks
Wait for the Drive Check to Finish. You will be alerted when your NAS is useable, after that, Happy Sailing! :)
